NGC Recognizes safety stand-down to Prevent workplace falls

NGC Group recognizes May 3-7 as National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Workplace Falls. Falls are the leading cause of death in construction. Visit OSHA.gov to learn more about Stop Falls Stand Down. In 2019, there were 401 fatal falls to a lower level out of 1,061 construction fatalities (BLS data). These deaths are preventable. Since 2012, OSHA has partnered with NIOSH and NORA to raise awareness about common fall hazards and fall prevention.

PLAN ahead to get the job done safely.
When working from heights, decisions on how the job will be done needs to be made, along with tasks involved, and what safety equipment may be needed to complete each task.

PROVIDE the right equipment.
Workers who are six feet or more above lower levels are at risk for serious injury or death if they should fall. To protect these workers, fall protection and the right equipment for the job must be provided, including the right kinds of ladders, scaffolds and safety gear. Workers in personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) must make sure the PFAS fits and is inspected regularly.

TRAIN everyone to use the equipment safely.
Every worker should be trained on proper set-up and safe use of equipment they use on the job. NGC trains workers in recognizing hazards on the job.
