For the Hotel Indigo in Downtown Omaha, the crews renovated the historic Logan Building built in 1918 on 18th & Dodge. The building was neglected for years, but NGC’s crews along with owner REV Development and The City of Omaha collaborated to rescue the iconic hotel. Per the historical society, NGC, along with civil engineers, design teams and partners, preserved the original façade, details and accents as required to obtain historical status. Original craftwork like the marble staircase, the original patina awnings, and countless panels of trim, brick and tile were meticulously protected, preserved or restored for display. The VRF pit was dug in the parking lot adjacent to the rear corner of the building to ensure the exterior remains as it once was over one hundred years ago. Incorporating the boutique hotel concept of IHG’s Hotel Indigo made sense, and the Logan Building was successfully transformed into a unique 90-room hotel with mixed-use, office, and retail-restaurant spaces on the lower level.

Hyatt Place Hotel, located in bustling downtown Colorado Springs, is a new, ground up building with NGC crews constructing in very confined spaces with neighboring properties only inches away. Its 7-stories has 120 rooms plus incredible amenities. Hydraulic car lifts were installed in the lower level parking garage to stack guest cars via hotel valet. Just inside the second floor entry, is a beautiful bar loaded with multiple TVs for entertainment, plenty of comfortable seating, tables for great conversations and an expansive lounge area with a ceiling-high stone and glass fireplace. There’s a modern buffet breakfast bar dining area with a state of the art kitchen. There is an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, plus meeting rooms and a guest laundry. The hotel design includes Hyatt’s newest prototype colors and patterns while incorporating exterior finishes to blend in well with the region. The project was completed with a few supply chain issues that were overcome with temporary solutions to allow the hotel to open on time. The building is a combination of pre-cast concrete, cast-in-place concrete and structural metal framing.

Congratulations everyone again. NGC accepted the awards for these projects at ABC NE SD’s Excellence in Construction Banquet on September 15, 2022 at the DelRay in Lincoln.
