Location: Lincoln-Omaha, NE + some travel in-state and adjacent states
Position Summary: The Multi-Craft employee will assist with subgrade prep, preparing and setting forms, tying rebar, and pouring all types of concrete. This position is required to have a good understanding of construction and be skilled in a variety of construction tasks. One team, one dream. Everyone wears a tool belt!
Essential Functions:
- Build and set forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set.
- Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete.
- Level concrete using proper tools including concrete tools, power tools, tampers, screed boards, trowels, and floats.
- Edge and cut concrete.
- Cut and shape reinforcing bars and mesh so they can be installed in concrete forms, along with fasteners and anchor points for reinforcement and utility.
- Provide support to Concrete Foreman with project layout and elevation shooting.
- Take the measurement and cut materials to build forms for pouring concrete.
- Document all activities accurately in order to enable the Project Team to issue proper follow up submittals (i.e., back charges, change orders, etc.)
Other Tasks:
- Keep work area clean and tidy and clean up after each project.
- Develop positive relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and other external clients.
- Respond to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner and follow up until each issue is closed.
- Follow all policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook and Company Safety Program.
- Report incidents immediately to Safety Director, Foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company.
Skill Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to safely drive company vehicles and equipment is required.
- Experience with concrete pouring, finishing, edging, forming, and cutting.
- Proficient in blueprint reading, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Operate with a sense of urgency in completing tasks but know when to ask for help when needed.
- Take ownership of project and responsibility for own actions.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
Minimum Qualifications (requirements before going in to job):
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of general concrete experience and completion of an apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction Card, or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements:
- Punctual, regular, and consistent on-site attendance.
- Some out-of-town work may be required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive use of hands.
- Environmental factors include working in temperature extremes of 0 to 100 degrees, inside or outside with exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors, and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
- Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
- Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes. Equipment on an as-needed basis may include gloves, lanyards, safety harness, face mask, and hearing protection.
Compensation Rate: Full-Time Employment at $25.00-$30.00/Hour, FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly Position
Reports To: Senior Field Operations Manager, No Supervisory Responsibilities
Hours: 7:30 – 4:30, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary by project and assignment.
Overtime hours must be approved by the Senior Field Operations Manager and/or Superintendent
